DATE: Friday 20th March 2026
TIME: 10am-3pm (including a break for lunch - please bring your own)
LOCATION: My studio in Corsham, Wiltshire (address will be sent closer to the time)
Only 3 spaces available, so you will receive lots of 1-2-1 guidance!
THE WORKSHOP:
In this workshop, you will create your own Meadow hoop textile art, embellished with machine embroidered flowers.
With my guidance, you will work on a machine embroidered hoop, working on a base of water-soluble fabric over a layer of net. If you are curious about working with water soluble fabric then this is the workshop for you!
You will use a range of techniques; mainly free motion machine embroidery stitched onto fabric that can then be washed away to leave a delicate and almost transparent embroidery. I will then show you how mount in a hoop.
Suitable for those with some experience of free motion machine embroidery and wish to experiment with water soluble fabric to produce textile art.
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:
Your own sewing machine with an embroidery foot are essential.
Machine threads – white/black for the bobbin and any good quality machine threads of your choice ( several greens and then bright colours for the flowers)
Your usual sewing equipment including sharp scissors.
A wooden embroidery hoop 10 inches ( or this can be purchased from me)
Please note the water soluble fabric and netting will be provided.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me at claire.houghton2@gmail.com
